    Hi,

I see two errors marked high on my Wordfence dashboard. I know there were increased login attempts yesterday. I am not sure if it is related.

    Error 1. wp-includes/functions.wp-scripts.php
    File Type: Core
Details: This WordPress core file has been modified and differs from the original file distributed with this version of WordPress.

    Changes:

    return $wp_scripts->localize( $handle, $object_name, $l10n ); to return $wp_scripts->localize( $handle, $object_name, (array)$l10n );

error 2. Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/bkp_functions.wp-scripts.php
    Type: File
    Filename: wp-includes/bkp_functions.wp-scripts.php
    File Type: Core
Details: This file is in a WordPress core location but is not distributed with this version of WordPress. This scan often includes files leftover from a previous WordPress version, but it may also find files added by another plugin, files added by your host, or malicious files added by an attacker.

Do you think it’s an attack or something?

Attaching my google doc file with screenshots.

    Plugin Support WFAdam

    (@wfadam)

Hello @rguptap and thanks for reaching out to us!

It might be something the host has done if they’re trying to prevent logging warnings/notices caused by a plugin using the function incorrectly. It might cause a warning/notice only in newer PHP versions if a plugin passed a non-array.

These look to be non-malicious file changes though.

Could you send a copy of the file bpk_functions.wp-scripts.php and check if it is just a backup of the original just to be safe, and also if you could ask the host if they modify that file.

You could send that file to wftest @ wordfence . com with subject “rguptap for WFADAM”.

Let me know if you do send it!
