Slow server. Inefficient SQL Queries

Having some issues with the site and I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the following queries are being generated by

SELECT DISTINCT wp_posts.*, (meta_value+0) AS views FROM wp_posts LEFT JOIN wp_postmeta ON wp_postme

and

SELECT wp_posts.* FROM wp_posts WHERE 1=1 AND YEAR(wp_posts.post_date)=’2009′ AND MONTH(wp_posts
