[Plugin: Advanced Permalinks] Author Page Does Not Work

I installed the plugin and everything seems to be working fine except the author page.

Without setting any settings under Advanced Permalinks, author pages do not exist and the author links link to my home page instead of author/AUTHORNAME. I entered /author/%author% into the Advanced Permalinks page and while the link name is correct, it either doesn’t load or cause the entire site except the home page into a redirect loop.

Categories (removing the base) cause 404 Errors as well, though I am currently using another plugin to handle this.
