    Hi,

Currently I have WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Payment Gateway and WooCommerce PayPal Payments enabled. If I now deactivate WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Payment Gateway, I lose the PayPal Checkout and Paypal Credit Card function. So I can’t do that.
How can I migrate the necessary information from one plugin to the other before the Checkout Payment Gateway is discontinued? Can the information be transferred automatically somehow?

    Thanks!

  • I believe the former plugin requires API details while the latter requires your PayPal account details. You can just connect the account before putting it live and it should populate the details for you automatically. Then it’s just a matter of disabling the old and enabling the new.

    Hi @davethedon

Thanks for your instant reply. I will try that on the live site in the early morning hours, when not much is going on.

    Hello @loano1

yes, @davethedon is right, however, be aware that the plugin might experience some conflicts if 2 PayPal plugins are active on the same site.
It might be a good idea to test a bit further on a staging site, so you don’t affect your live site.

If you can get the outcome you need with these details: great! If you need more support from our side, please let us know what you mean by “the necessary information from one plugin”, so we can give you a more specific answer.

    Kind regards,

    Hello @joostvandevijver

    Thanks for your reply.

some conflicts if 2 PayPal plugins are active

I have just noticed that. WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway tells on the plugin site “Activate PayPal Payments now” which actives the other plugin, but in the latest variant it just generates a critical error.

I tried to switch but WooCommerce PayPal Payments as standalone simply does not work. It tells me the credit card functionality is not available in my country while this was working properly with WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway for years.

please let us know what you mean by “the necessary information from one plugin”

If you want to unify all funtionen in one plugin, can’t you just integrate the existing function of WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway into the WooCommerce PayPal Payments plugin?

If not, is there a schedule how long WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway will still be supported?

    Thanks!

@loano1 March 2022 is the end of the line. I believe it says that on the plugin page in the red notification banner underneath it.

Yes, the old plugin is will remain available until around March next year.

The credit card situation might be possible to get resolved by disabling the Card Processing option in the settings page of our plugin. The standard credit card should come instead of the one we push in our plugin.

The reason for this new plugin has got many facets, some of those are related to security, but also new features like Vaulting, PayPal Card Processing and Pay Later are important factors for redesigning the PayPal payment plugin.

We are not saying the old plugin does not work properly, but at some point, there will be issues regarding some functionalities and requirements on the old plugin that can’t be easily fixed, whereas our plugin is being built with this in mind.

I hope this answers your questions.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
