Can’t change the Administration E-mail Address

I have taken over the admin responsibilities for our website and the previous user has left the company. His e-mail address is set as the Administration E-mail Address for the site and It will not change to my e-mail address. I’ve submitted the change both from our general settings page and from the prompt that comes up when I log into the site. It just says there is a pending change of the admin e-mail address. Above the e-mail address it mentions that the changes have to be confirmed but I see no way to confirm it and I haven’t received any e-mail to confirm the change. I’ve cancelled the request and started a new one a few times now but nothing happens. Any idea how to get this to change?
