%%excerpt%% variable in the global meta description field of particular content type SEO > Content-Type(tab) should generate the auto meta description from the post content. Make sure the properties post has content written in the WordPress default editor instead of the custom field to generate the excerpt. We expect the meta description would should the post content as an excerpt in the page source.

If the issue remains, please provide us with the example URL to investigate the issue further.

The “Eigendommen” posts are a custom post type created over Toolset where we use custom fields. Membermouse locks specific content based on the user type. Here is an example of such an “eigendommen” post: https://landman.re/eigendom/pand-oosteeklostraat-9971-lembeke/. Please investigate the issue further.

If you use the %%excerpt%% snippet variable for your meta descriptions, it should use the value from the WordPress post or page excerpt field. If that isn’t populated, it should use the first 55 words in the content (which is what it means by the auto-generation) – https://yoast.com/help/list-available-snippet-variables-yoast-seo/#basic-variables

Could you edit one of your posts or pages and check the Google preview in the Yoast SEO meta box and see if the meta description reflects this accordingly?

This is still the text which I see in the Google preview: Please provide a meta description by editing the snippet below, if you don’t Google will try to find a relevant part of your post to show in the search results. So nothing changed!

Could you please provide us some screenshots that highlight your content editor where the content is being populated and the next screenshot where you’ve used the %%excerpt%% variable? In addition, if possible please provide us with the example of your post URL.

This will help us investigate the issue further.

If you were to input some dummy content (paragraph) or real content on the editor, do you see the content being pulled up in the meta description?
