I followed all the guidelines. 720×1280 or mine is showing 720x1282p, less than 10 seconds long, 4mb or smaller files etc and I’m getting an error my video is large than 720p.

Then, when I click optimize videos, it just repeatedly crashes. What should I do?

  • @mythreeseasons Sorry to hear you’re having these issues. Hopefully, we can find a resolution. Could you please share a few additional details?

    1) Do you have access to the PHP error/ WP DEBUG logs?

Temporarily setting define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true ); and define( ‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, true ); in your wp-config.php file should show you an additional error message that can help us track down the issue.

Reach out to your hosting provider if you’re unable to edit that file directly.

    2) Check for any browser console errors and share via screenshot or copy/paste.

    3) If possible, could you share a screenshot or screen recording of the issue and the console errors? You can use services like JumpShare or Recordit to share.

In addition to the above, it also sounds like you already care a great deal about following your guidelines. So if your videos already meet all the requirements when you upload them, you don’t really need to optimize them again in the editor.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. Right before you got back to me, I noticed the option to optimize the videos through the web stories editor one-by-one. That worked. It did not crash. Still not sure why it was telling me the videos were too large though

@mythreeseasons Hi there, to confirm, is it telling you that after you’ve optimized the videos?

Yes, it’s telling me that after I optimized them

@mythreeseasons I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue when using a video that meets requirements. If your video meets the requirements, but you are seeing the error, you can safely ignore the warning. Perhaps, you can try to do a hard refresh in your browser, or access the story draft in an incognito window to see if the checklist warning goes away. Please let us know if there is additional support needed around this.
