    With new block interface, I see option to upload images to a post from hardrive. Is this new to blocks or was doable with old classic editor? Is there upside/ downside to using the media library vs hardrive?

    Also is there a shortcut to open block for images?

    To upload an image to your post/page, or add an existing one from your media library, use the image block: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/image-block/

    James, yes I know, let me try again, new questions beyond that;

    Is this new to blocks or was doable with old classic editor?

    Is there upside/ downside to using the media library vs hardrive?

    Also is there a keyboard shortcut to open block for images?

    The image block has been included in the block editor since the block editor was introduced.

    The classic editor did not have blocks, so essentially this is new functionality compared to that.

    With that said, the block editor was introduced in WordPress 5.0, released in December of 2018, so it’s hardly new overall.

    When you upload images to a post/page, they are uploaded from your hard drive and added to your media library. Your site will always be using your media library.

    Also is there a keyboard shortcut to open block for images?

    You can add a block by typing a / and typing the block’s name. So:

    1. Hit return/enter to move down to a new block.
    2. Type /image to make this new block an image block.
