Spider plugin to completely cache website?

    I am looking for a plugin that can simply, once activated, spider the entire website (like a search engine spider) starting from the homepage, and create static pages and folders under the top level domain keeping the original structure of the website, and will update pages only or at least when they are modified by the admin/author (constant spidering for updates, etc…).

    I have tried Hyper-Cache, but correct me if I’m wrong – it caches only pages that are being visited by surfers, and puts all the cached content in it’s plugin directory inside the wp-content folder encrypting all the filenames and not keeping folder structure or any structure at all. Also that encryption means that you need the plugin active to show those pages, and if there are issues with the database and the plugin goes down, then the cache content is no use anyway…

  • So Im guessing you are using the blog more to give information rather than as a news portal?

    The best Cache scripts are WP Supercache and W3 Total Cache, where you can adjust the lifespan of each cached page. it doenst auto index until someone visits unfortunately as you seem to want it in your question.

    Those two plugins are very reputable and are continually updated. Mashable uses W3 Total Cache, since their IT Manager developed it, so you can expect to see it updated frequently.

    Thanks, I’ll try those, but do they have any options regarding the structure as I mentioned above?

    Warm Cache might do the trick, just found it when trying to answer the question of spidering a site to build a cache.
