Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 3 Mobile Usability issues:

    Top Issues

The following issues were found on your site:

    • Viewport not set
    • Text too small to read
    • Clickable elements too close together.
    • We recommend that you fix these issues when possible to enable the best experience and coverage in Google Search.

I had a look at the source, and there WAS a viewport set. At least one element had width of 100%, and I’m looking at the site on mobile device and can’t see anything wrong with the readability, and I would if there were a problem, because I’m old.

I read that The Gorgon are now demoting sites in the search rankings if they don’t comply with mobile usability.

How do I get them to either be more specific in telling the user where the problem is, or to acknowledge that there actually IS no problem? Or, how is the user to comply when all these parameters are controlled by the theme?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

    Hi @wpusrr,

The viewport is set in the theme head, as you say. As for the font sizes being too small or clickable elements being too close together, it’s possible that some of the elements in Hemingway don’t reach the threshold Google sets for those values.

I can’t provide you with a list of those elements though, or the CSS to modify them. You’ll have to look up which value thresholds Google sets, look through the theme for elements that don’t meet those limits, and add additional CSS modifying the styling.

Thanks for your reply Anders. And again, thanks for the beautiful theme.

I’ll do a bit a sleuthing when time permits, though my site is small and non-commercial and so highness in search rankings is not such a pressing concern; it’s more an irritation that something that ain’t broke The Gorgon is demanding coercively, with threats, be ‘fixed’.

Might you be willing to take these matters into consideration for a future theme update?
