    Good day,

I am having difficulty with the “homepage settings” on the Neve theme.
From the WordPress Dashboard >> Appearance >> Customize

Then “Homepage settings” should be between the “Widgets” and “Additional CSS” options in the theme customizer.

However, this is not the case. There is no “Homepage settings” tab visible for me to make edits.

I am unable to set my home page as the static landing page, and it has reverted to the sample blog post as the landing page.

    Please could you assist me.
    Many thanks.

  • Hi @joshua78!

    Thanks for choosing Neve!

The Homepage Settings can be found in Customizer -> Layout, as you can see here.

    Have a nice day!

    Apologies,

I did see the “homepage settings” in the layout now (it was not there beforehand).

I selected “static” to test the view of the page.

I then tested “posts”, however it removed the home page from the customizer.

I was still using the “save draft” option and could not regain the home page from the customizer. I then selected to undo all unpublished changes at the “save draft/publish” tab, which then removed all my pages and left behind the sample post only.

I went back to the wordpress dashboard to remove the pages from the bin and restored them. The pages are all restored, but they are no longer under the status “customization draft”, rather just “draft”.

Upon re-entering the Customizer, I am unable to access the “homepage settings” again. It is not between “widgets” and “additionall css”, nor is it in the “layout”.

Please could you kindly assist me again.
    Kind regards and many thanks.

    Hello @joshua78 ,

Thank you for using Neve and for reaching out!

This might be happening due to plugin conflict. Please deactivate all plugins and see if the issue persists. If not, then please start reactivating your plugins one by one, whilst testing to see if the issue persists until you find the culprit.

If this didn’t work, then please share the website URL where you are facing this problem so we can have a further look. Also, please make sure that your environment is up to date. (WP, Themes, Plugins etc).

Thank you and we’ll await your answer!

    Hi Joshua,
Why you are not using “Settings >> Reading”. I hope you can find option here and select the Page which you want.

    Hi @mateithemeisle

    Thank you for your reply.
I have done as you advised, and I even installed the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.

I deactivated all the plugins, however the problem with finding the “homepage settings” in the Neve Theme Customizer still persisted. Even after using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to determine if Worpress, Neve theme and plugins were up to date – which, at this point, they are.

    The site is at https://www.godslovestory.site

Your further assistance would be most appreciated.

    Kind Regards and many thanks.

    Hi @saqibmushtaq

When I do go to Settings >> Reading panel in the WordPress dashboard, there are no “Homepage settings” at all. It’s as if the option has been removed. It appears non-existent.

    Hello @joshua78 ,

    Thank you for your reply!

That is indeed strange. I tried accessing your website, however, it is under a “coming soon” facade thus I couldn’t observe any errors.

Are there any errors in the console log when opening the website on your end? You can see those errors by Right-Clicking on the page > Inspect > Console.

Also, are you using any caching system?

What WP, PHP version are you using?

Thank you and we’ll await your answer!

    Hi @mateithemeisle

    1. Yes, the website is still under construction and has not been launched as yet,
hence the “coming soon” page. I wasn’t sure if there was a way you were able to observe anything, so I sent the URL.

See if this URL is helpful from the Customizer? https://godslovestory.site/?page_id=20&customize_changeset_uuid=2724c215-f7b6-40e2-9d27-c80f12a14cc4

In the above URL I “inspect >> Console”
    An error does show:

jQuery.Deferred exception: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'wp') TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'wp')
        at Function.<anonymous> (https://godslovestory.site/wp-content/themes/neve/header-footer-grid/assets/js/customizer/customizer.js?ver=2.0.0:152:17)

    S.Deferred.exceptionHook @ jquery.min.js?ver=3.6.0:2
    jquery

    as well as the error:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'wp')
        at Function.<anonymous> (customizer.js?ver=2.0.0:152)
        at c (jquery.min.js?ver=3.6.0:2)

        at e (jquery.min.js?ver=3.6.0:2)
        at t (jquery.min.js?ver=3.6.0:2)

I do not understand this language or coding, but I think it may have to do with the “Settings >> Reading” settings?

Because, in that “Settings >> Reading” page, I am unable to see the Homepage settings option. It’s as if it doesn’t exist.

    2. I am not sure about the Caching system. If you think anything would be helpful, please advise.

    3. WP version 5.8.2
    PHP 7.4 (ea-php74)

Thank you for your further assistance

    Hi @mateithemeisle

I found this article which was helpful in restoring my “homepage settings”

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/homepage-settings-not-appearing-in-customiser/

The homepage settings were not visible in the dashboard or the customizer, because I didn’t have a page published. So I published my “Home” page and it gave me the options again to select my “homepage settings”.

Inspecting the page under “dashboard >> pages >> all pages >> ‘home’ -> view” and right clicking “inspect >> console” there are also no errors visible anymore.

So I think the issue has been resolved.

Many thanks for your help. If the problem re-occurs and I am unable to access the settings, I will message in again.

    Hello @joshua78,

Thank you for your reply and apologies for the delayed response!

From the errors seen in your message indeed the solution found seems to be the correct one. I assumed you had a published page and still getting errors (since I couldn’t see the website itself), that was my bad.

All in all, I am happy to hear that the issue is solved and also that you were kind enough to share your solution with the rest of the community in case anybody else needs help.

THank you and have an amazing day!
