RSS Feed Ordering Bug

Thanks for contacting us. When I searched <pubDate> in the RSS feed https://tommccallum.com/feed/podcast/whatcomesnext-live I saw correctly ordered items. Can you check if you’re seeing this on your end as well?

I have the exact same problem, and agreed it’s sorting by published day of the month. The order is wrong on the host sites RSS, apple podcasts, spotify, google podcasts, or feedburner the order is changed.

For the series feed details, do you have the “Source for publish date” set to publish date and the show type: Episodic? What is your date format for WordPress (WordPress Settings > General) Also, what version of the plugin are you running?

Trying to recreate your settings here because, so far, I can’t recreate the issue with my current setup/settings.

I’m having the same issue on the feed for our podcast. We self-host, so not using Castos.

Our “Source for publish date” was set to “record date,” show type to “episodic” and turbocharge podcast feed box was checked.

I just changed the settings to “publish date” to see if that would make any difference.

What we have been seeing:
Our feed shows the end of the month podcasts from various months, the most recent being May 31, 2021. But they’re also all out of order. Like jedwards-kcbt, we post an episode each week from our church service:

but the feed is seemingly random and hasn’t changed since October:
https://www.raleighmennonite.org/feed/podcast

The ironic thing is that the feed is showing up just fine on Google Podcasts:

But it’s the same as our RSS feed on most platforms such as iTunes:

I’m truly confused on how to resolve this!

Okay, Spotify, iTunes and Pandora have updated to the correct feed, so changing to the Published Date seemed to fix it. Stitcher is still wonky, but hopefully it will straighten itself out.

Same issue here. Only fix I’ve come to so far is, like others have reported, to switch sort order FROM “Recorded date” TO “Published date”.

Can you let us know if this issue gets resolved or a solution/workaround is found?
