Because the price is mandatory in Woocommerce, all my products without a price, especially variations, are shown as ‘out of stock’.

I do not show prices on the frontend, but this doesn’t stop Woocommerce from requiring prices for any and all product variations.

Is there a way to make price optional, so products and variations without a price wouldn’t be shown as ‘out of stock’?

I simply want to show all products and variations, regardless of having a price or not.
I searched but there doesn’t seem to be any answer to this. The closest topic to this is not answered

    Thanks a lot

  • What you’re looking for is a plugin like Catalogue Visibility. It allows you to show all your products, but not have them available for sale or have prices on them.

    Hi @dreamsoft,

This is correct – you can use something like WooCommerce Catalog Visibility Options for this, or by using some custom code.

The custom code route is at this link (towards the bottom) and if you do go this route I would recommend reaching out to your theme developer to ensure it works with your theme 100%.

If you have further questions please ask!

sorry, but actually, none of those options are solving the problem – those are just for hiding prices, but Woocommerce will still require them in order to show a product!

price is still mandatory, and if a variation has no price, Woocommerce will show it as ‘out of stock’, and will NOT allow me to select any variation.

So, how can I make Woocommerce not require prices at all, or show all products as ‘in stock’ no matter if the price is added or not? I need to be able to select product variations regardless of having a price or not.

    thanks again

I used the Catalog Visibility Option plugin just before the site was going live as I didn’t have prices for everything. And it worked.

The other thing is that I stuffed up and imported some products with $0 – and they still showed, which was embarrassing.

What Theme are you using? I wonder if it’s got something to do with that?

    @witchystitchy I’m using Divi

Can you try temporarily switching to one of the standard Woocommerce themes – eg Storefront, and see if it’s the same problem? It’ll rule out the theme being the cause of it.
I’m using Shopstar and it works for me

I tried, it is the same.
thanks, but I don’t think it a theme-related problem, as Woocommerce is requiring prices in the admin

@nixiack8 is it possible to offer a follow-up on this? thanks

    Hi @dreamsoft

I simply want to show all products and variations, regardless of having a price or not.

As there isn’t a built-in option to achieve this, you’d want to consult with a web developer or one of the services on our Customizations page to create a custom solution.
