I’ve setup a new site, basic shopping cart.

When a customer makes a purchase Neither the Buyer Nor I receive an email.
I would like it if Woo sent me an email when someone purchased something so I can mail the product, but the Customer is getting Nothing! No receipt. No acknowledgement of purchase – Nothing!

In Woo Settings, I have put in all the correct email address for me. Where it reads ‘customer’ I have left those alone.

To test this, I use a different browser, where I am not logged in to my site and make a purchase using a different email address and credit card than what is associated with my site and card processor.

The purchase goes through without issue, but again, no emails.

I have checked the spam folders and have used multiple alternate email addresses for testing (gmail, yahoo and private server email) and the buyer never receives an email, nor do I.

I have gone through the Woo’s email support page, but I am afraid to change anything since Contact Form 7 works flawlessly.

How can I get Woo to email the customer and myself?

  • Hi @stuckathomemom,

You definitely should be getting emails. As a first step, I would suggest installing a Mail Logging plugin like WP Mail Logging. Then make a test purchase. The log should catch any emails that the system is trying to send.

It should also let you know if there are any errors that were encountered too. Those can be helpful in determining where the problem is.

If that doesn’t help, you may want to look at using an SMTP service for sending emails. That will bypass the webserver and use an actual email server for sending the emails. That’s typically much more reliable. I always did that in my business and my wife does with hers now too.

This guide has more information about doing that:

Let us know what you find out and if we can help.

    Thanks!
