poll votes not recording after wp update

We noticed poll votes weren’t being recorded. Spent some time troubleshooting. I opened an old test site in Local that was WP version from about 12 months ago. Added wp polls to it and cast vote on the default poll. vote recorded fine. Updated that site to current version of WP 5.8.2 made a new poll, submitted a vote – no vote recorded.
wpengine auto upgraded a bunch of our sites to this new version and polling doesn’t work on them any more. downgrading one of the dev sites now. Hope that fixes it.
Does anyone have a better solution for this issue?
Any help appreciated.

It works on my test site on 5.8.2, so most likely it is an issue with your plugins (maybe a conflict or something) https://lesterchan.net/wordpress/2021/02/27/test-polls/
