    Hi there,

This issue sounds to me like there is some kind of conflict maybe your theme, or possibly a plugin. Usually navigation errors are related to some type of conflict.

Please go ahead and test for conflicts: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/ Please make sure you disable ALL other plugins besides The Events Calendar and our other plugins, and revert to a default theme like 2020, and then see if this problem goes away.

    Hi,

    thanks for response.

But before my posting, I’ve checked the always recommend steps for deactivating plugins, or change to a twenty xx wordpress theme.

I’ve also have had a look at my php-error.log and tried the wordpress debug function.
    But with no success.

Today I was able to recognize what is causing the issue.
In the options there was a message about design upgrade (upgrade tab).
I’ve clicked that and the issue occurs.

I know this, because I’ve had another blog with a slightly modified Twenty-Thirteen wordpress theme and most different plugins that I’m using onto uerdingen.info and this blog has had no calendar layout upgrade.

I saw that there was no issue with the calendar widget and the blog pagination, until I clicked the upgrade button in the calendar options.
After the upgrade I faced the same issue.

I’m confused now, thought layout upgrade is only for layout.

    Hi @marcus_p

Thank you for clarifying, so what you are referring to is the “Update Calendar Designs” or the V2 designs/views as we call them. They are sort of an overhaul for the front end of The Events Calendar, not just in looks but also in function.

What you are experiencing still sounds very much like some kind of conflict within your site. If you checked the steps for troubleshooting, did you implement them? You should revert to a default theme like 2020 (2013 is too out of date really for this Troubleshooting application) and disable ALL other plugins besides The Events Calendar. With just those installed you should be able to check the “Updated Calendar Designs” and things should work flawlessly.

It sounds to me like maybe you have a child theme and when you do the upgrade it is conflicting with it. Please note that any styling changes or custom CSS you will need to update because the new designs have changed a lot of the front end.

So have you done this upgrade whilst in a troubleshooting setup?

Could you please share your System Info by emailing it to me at [email protected]? https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/sharing-your-system-information/

Yes as written before I’ve disabled all plugins and also made further tests with all WP standard themes and also the new 2021, but still face the issue there. I also face the issue on my local wordpress environment by using xampp with php8 after I installed the events calendar plugin there.

Could you please share your System Info by emailing it to me …
Yes I can do that this weekend.

@tdorn I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines/#the-bad-stuff

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us escalating this to the plugins team.

It’s never necessary to do that. Here’s why.

There are many ways to get information you need and accessing the user’s site is not one of them. That’s going too far.

    You get the idea.

Volunteer support is not easy. But these forums need to a safe place for all users, experienced or new. Accessing their system that way is a short cut that will get you into real trouble in these forums.

    @marcus_p

Please don’t offer to send or post logon credentials on these forums:

You can contact the author on their own site and, once there, the discussion is between the two of you. However, it is not OK to enter or send site credentials on these forums. We don’t want to encourage others (who are less reputable) to do similar things. It’s a fine line, but one that we need to enforce. Thanks for your cooperation.

Hi @marcus_p sorry it has been a little bit here, but I have tested this today and I can confirm this is a bug, I booted up a sandbox site of our own here: https://sympathetic-vole.w5.wpsandbox.pro/ and you can see the same thing.

So I am going to report this to my team, this was actually a bug we fixed before but it seems to be back. I will tie this thread to that report so when there is a fix you’ll be notified, but in the meantime I am not sure we have a workaround for this. Apologies for the inconvenience, I will keep you updated!

    Hi @tdorn,

    Thank’s for reply.

So I was right of thinking it may be a bug.

Meanwhile I will use the show now eventlist, when there are no upcoming events option for layout purprosals. So visitors of the website will not be confused and I will waiting till the update has killed this bug. ??
