    Hello,

is there an option for changing slug after rewrite and republish an article.

Our editors ask us and we say no. They would do this for Google Discover.

Do you have any ideas for us? We can use also an hook from your plugin and build it by ourself.

    Thank you

    Micha

    Hi @michel173

When you rewrite a post or page, it creates a draft copy, which you can then make changes to. When you then click on republish, it overwrites all changes and keeps the existing slug.

Perhaps you might want to look at the ‘clone’ feature and then just change the slug to the cloned post or page afterward.

    hi @mikes41720

Many thanks for your response. To klone the post isn′t an option for us, because we get an new post-id. We would like to change the title, the body, the img and the slug and use the same post (incl. post-id) and then we republish the post for the weekend and get an redirect from the old slug by wordpress (standard-function if you change the slug by the article).

If there is no options, do you have a hook in your plugin to change the slug? Then we build it adn adept it to your plugin.

    Many thanks

We also DESPERATELY wish for this. We are often going back to update content and change details, it requires editing the original post to edit the slug. it’s silly. should be able to change the slug when rwrp. we also do not want a new post id.

cloning and then changing afterward is humorous.

    Hi,

When using the rewrite & republish feature in the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin, it doesn’t allow you to change the slug when it is republished.

We understand that the clone feature also isn’t an option as it creates a new post ID. You may have to look at the available filters and functions in our developer documentation to see if it may be of help – https://developer.yoast.com/duplicate-post/overview/
