    Hi-
I’m currently using Woo for a very small online shop, just a few items, working fine.

We’ve started doing bike repair service in-house. I’ve added a few items like Labor as ‘private’ so I can create work orders but they can’t be added from the online shop.
We often have to purchase small parts that we don’t want to add to the shop, so a miscellaneous item whose price (and description) I can change *per item* would be great. For instance, I could add 2 misc items, a bike chain at $20 and a pair of pedals at $35.
    Any way to do this?

  • Hi @madtho!

In this case, I suggest you create those small parts as private products, the same way you did with the Labor item; this way, they won’t appear on your online shop.

Then, when you need to add them to a created order, edit the order and add the new items you need by clicking the Add items button.

    I hope this helps!

    Thanks for the response, Juan.
What I’m hoping for but am having a hard time conveying is a ‘dummy’ product that I can change the price of. We don’t want to be adding tons of usually one-time products to the shop.
We’re not a real bike shop, but a volunteer repair shop so we wont be stocking parts except the most common things.

    thanks

    Hello there,

This is something that may not have a particular or fixed price.

This is depending on your needs, of course.

To me that sounds like a service, you can include in the service the “reparation”, as well as the small parts that are not in your store.

This can be made via quote, which you can give to the customer, for example using the plugin Name Your Price:
    https://woocommerce.com/products/name-your-price/

    I hope this provides clarity.

Ah! name your price, that’s an excellent suggestion, thank you.

    Sure, glad to hear that.
