Display post image and text snippet from other site

Ok, so I am setting up a small network of sites and doing cross promotion by display posts from one site on the others and vice versa… however I want to include the preview image (150×150 in size) rather than just a plain text link… possibly to grab their attention.

Since my installations are on different folders (/home/site1/public_html and /home/site2/public_html), and with different domains (obviously), I dont know how to make such a call. I can do RSS but it will display only text… any idea on how to display the image as well? Each image is assigned with via the custom function feature in each post… I called it storyimage and set the relevant 150×150 image url… where do I begin? XD
