Edit to site don’t appear right away

  • I am having an issue when I make even minor edits. I had a practice of running the wp-admin version (back-end) in Chrome and running a front-end version of my site in some other browser like Firefox or Edge. If I do a “view site” from within the back-end in Chrome, my changes show up right away. However they do not show up right away in the front-ends running in other browsers. I though one could do an F5 or cntl F5 to force a browser to reload from the server and not use any cache files. Seems that some months ago, I didn’t have this problem but now I do.

    I liked running the front end in a different browser so I ddnn’t have to go back and forth within the back-end to test my changes. But seems I can only see them promptly in the back-end “visit site”

    often the site or page cache needs to be cleared using webhosting account settings or other plugins/tools if you have them installed.

    OK. I tried clearing the browser cache in Firefox and that wasn’t enough. But changes show up eventually. Changes I made last night are showing up this morning but not last night from just clearing the browser cache.

    -browser cache (on your devices) is different from webhosting cache.
    -contact your webhosting vendor — they may be able to offer you some additional guidance.

    yeah, it was the server cache. I found the “clear cache” button in my hosting controls. I think I get why this problem seems new. A few months back, my hosting account got infected with malware to I had to add a security package which included a firewall on the server side. The “clear cache” button is in the firewall controls in my hosting security panel. I didn’t have any of that before.
