categories in sidebar

I am using wp-creative theme. it already had a sidebar ready to go, with no content in it. i tried creating category through pages but it doesnt give a option to put it in the side bar, only as a pulldown from main header.
i also created category from posts but doesn’t look good. i would rather do a page, not post. stye is all off. plus, the category for the post shows up on all the pages, not just the specific header. ie. what i want is to click on about page, then see a sidebar with different page options like staff, rates, client list, ect. here is a link to my current wp page i am workiing on.
