“New Store” page? Shop Page
-
No “add to cart” function in Woo commerce. I created pages for each product in WordPress. Also created a shop page and a store page. Its becomes just a blank page. I defined products under the product menu line. But it occurs to me that at no point in creating product images and description under “PAGE” menu did it even ask for a product number. How could it have linked to a product given a number and properties under “product” menu? I was told an ‘add to card button would appear on the page when all was set up. none did. I am clearly missing something crucial. Can anyone help?

Hi @cwscouten,
How could it have linked to a product given a number and properties under “product” menu?
Are you trying to insert a link to the product page (with the add to cart button) in the menu? If yes, you’d want to add Products, not Pages. Here’s a screenshot for better understanding.
Link to image: https://i.imgur.com/XuLWvnh.pngLet us know if you have more questions.
Thank you for the reply. I appreciate the support. Please understand I am new to WordPress and Woo Commerce. I do not understand your first question. Was that a rhetorical question? What was “it” referring to? May I approach from what I want, and did about it, and please tell me what I did wrong? And exactly how to create the customer facing page connected to the product data, with an “add to Cart” button. I see the image you provided, but I haven’t found a screen like that. What plugin did it come from? How do I get to it?
I went to the Product menu item under Dashboard. I entered a full set of product information like package size, price, part number, etc. I defined product properties for some products.
However, There is no place there to enter a product description and picture to be seen by the customer on an arranged page. I (incorrectly) presumed that must be under the Dashboard “Pages” menu item below Dashboard. So I created a few pages with what I wanted the customer to see. But in retrospect, these are just text and image, not different than the “terms of sale” Page or Contacts” pages. In creating them, I was never asked for a product number they described. So that doesn’t work. On Google, I saw a menu under “Woo Commerce” that included a Product submenu item. My menu below Woo Commerce has no such line. How do I get one there? Will it help?Hi @cwscouten,
No worries, I understand that it might be a bit difficult at first, but there are resources and guides on WooCommerce.com that can help you get started:
https://woocommerce.com/documentation/
The screenshot I shared is the
Menus
page that you’ll find under Appearance > Menus. From here you can set your custom menu and add links to the products you’ve already created. Here’s a guide with more information: https://woocommerce.com/document/docs-menus/.Regarding pages, WooCommerce adds default pages and you can read more here: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-pages/. For products, WooCommerce has templates instead to display products in a loop (Single Product Page) – read more about how to customize the single product page here: https://wpmet.com/customize-woocommerce-product-page/.
If you’re interested you’ll also find more info about WooCommerce templates here: https://woocommerce.com/document/template-structure/.
There is extensive documentation in WooCommerce.com that can help you learn the basics of WooCommerce. So the first step would be reading through the documentation and testing on a demo/staging site.
Thanks.
Thank you again, I have been reading and trying things you sent. Very clear detailed instruction, great, except: Always, the instruction gets to a point where it says something like choose a structure for your site from the widget for structures, or a template from templates under Woo Commerce, and there is no such menu item or widget. What to do next? I am using the free versions of Elementor and Woo Commerce.(We are a startup company watching its cash supply for now). Both say commercial websites can be built with the free version. Should I infer that to follow the instructions, I will need the premium versions? I will never need any of the fancy features, my customers just want information. So I thought I didn’t need more widgets or options. What is the reality of free vs premium?
Hi @cwscouten
Should I infer that to follow the instructions, I will need the premium versions?
Not at all. You can build a fully functional ecommerce store with WooCommerce free of cost. ??
Always, the instruction gets to a point where it says something like choose a structure for your site from the widget for structures, or a template from templates under Woo Commerce, and there is no such menu item or widget. What to do next?
Please share a screenshot of the place you get stuck. That way we’ll be able to provide accurate guidance.
I recommend https://snipboard.io for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL here. It works with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge browsers.
At several sources I am told to click Products under the WooCommerce menu item.
Like this one:
“Now that you’ve gotten all of that sorted, head to WooCommerce down the left sidebar => Products => New Product.” Found at:
https://www.nexcess.net/blog/woocommerce-setup?gclid=Cj0KCQiA2sqOBhCGARIsAPuPK0hk527cEseoNKFWYsuUTsMNmhEzjkuJh8Bjp7bCXJQbCvTRoNrf1R0aApLuEALw_wcB
Under my WOOCommerce menu items, there is no “Products” item. I used SNIPIT to capture an image of the WooCommerce menu items, it won’t paste here.Don’t feel up to buying snipboard and learning to use it. Let me ask, do other users of WooCommerce see a products line? Why wouldn’t I?
I have Products under the Dashboard menu, I defined all my products there. How do I put up a commercial page? I have all the description text and pictures. How to go forward?Hello,
I think that documentation is referrig to the main products menu on your back end:
Link to image: https://snipboard.io/3gEhRu.jpgHow do I put up a commercial page? I have all the description text and pictures. How to go forward?
Good question. There are many ways to do it depending on your own needs. I recommend checking this documentation about it:
https://woocommerce.com/posts/how-to-set-up-a-new-woocommerce-store/
Thanks ??
Yes, that link was all about the back end. I am done setting up back end. I want to put a picture, description and a functional add to cart button where my customers can see it.
I tried adding pages under the dashboard menu, they look good enough, and are up online, but the backend does not know which product they are describing, and I can’t get an add to card button showing. There is no product menu line under WooCommerce or shop engine. Nothing I can find puts up a product page. I need a list of steps for which there are actually menu buttons to push.
Hi @cwscouten,
To get a better understanding, could you please share a few screenshots?

Thank you for the help to date. I am using snipboard, as recommended. see the link above. Igor, I see the misunderstanding. “Product item under WooCommerce” I took to mean there would be a submenu item under WooCommerce that was “Product”, and there was not. I see you were trying to tell they were referring to the Product under Dashboard menu. If Woocommerce had not been mentioned there, I would have gone to Product that I had used to enter product data.
I am in basic Elementor trying to use basic shop engine to create a new single product template. The steps have worked up to here. Now, Editing in typography has no effect on the size of the product title characters, which are obviously way to large. Something appears to be overriding the Elementor settings. I should say, I spent a week trying to make product titles on my website a little larger, with no success. There may be CSS code interfering, I don’t know where to go to delete it.
On another issue, a footer I created is there, and on my live website (NeuroscienceTools.com), but not appearing as it looked when I typed it. Where to find the menu item to fix this?
Hi there,
I took to mean there would be a submenu item under WooCommerce that was “Product”
Yes. The product section is apart from the WooCommerce main menu.
Regarding the product title.
* Could you please share a copy of your site’s
System Status
? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.* Regarding the footer section:
Please check this documentation, you will find 4 ways to edit the footer section.
https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-edit-the-footer-in-wordpress/Thanks.
Igor, here is status report. I am reading up on how to interpret it.
For the footnote, I read and tried things at the link you sent. Nothing helped. Clearly, the typography needs to be adjusted to much smaller size for H1 or H2 for product titles. The typography menu item only allows setting colors, but doesn’t change any after you change the setting. There is no adjustment for text size. Something somewhere else is locking that.Status REport:

Hi @cwscouten
Thanks for sharing the System Status Report.
For the footnote, I read and tried things at the link you sent. Nothing helped.
That is probably because the site is built with Elementor. You can reach out to the Elementor team directly for the settings that’ll actually work for your site: https://elementor.com/help/
the typography needs to be adjusted to much smaller size for H1 or H2 for product titles. The typography menu item only allows setting colors, but doesn’t change any after you change the setting. There is no adjustment for text size. Something somewhere else is locking that.
These settings are controlled by the theme so you should find answers to most questions in the Astra’s knowledgebase: https://wpastra.com/docs/
You can also post in the theme’s forum any specific issues you are encountering: https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/astra/
I hope this points you in the right direction.
Thank you Margaret, for your continued help. The elementor page did not have access to a forum or chat. Or a phone number. I found a place to fix fonts in my admin, and did so, with a few other things, but discovered my front landing page was totally broken afterwards. I could see no way to bring things back but to use Updraft plus to back up and restore from 4 days ago. It worked! I saved a log of that, Then I started re-fixing everything I could remember doing during those 4 days that worked, after fixing some other issues first. The landing page was suddenly scrambled again. I went back the same 4 days, this time the restore failed. Some things about whether I had access and permission. I am the only administrator. I repeatedly tried, after checking that everything was connected. Would not work. So I tried restoring from 8 days. Same result. The Landing page is broken. Internal pages are OK, just 4 days behind where I had gotten. The landing page was done for me and was good art. I don’t have the skills to remake that. I feel lost, what would you do?
Hi there,
I could see no way to bring things back but to use Updraft plus to back up and restore from 4 days ago.
…
I feel lost, what would you do?So sorry to hear about this.
In this case, you can reach out to the specific plugin support forum:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/updraftplus/I hope this provides clarity.
