Post Filter/Sorter – I would have thought it would be easy

Some I’m looking for a plugin that works the way filtering vendors works on service-oriented site. I know, that’s awkward. Here’s an example:

In the middle of the top image, there’s a “sorter/filter” that allows one to type in the name of a wedding vendor, their category, their location, etc. I want to do the same thing with posts and sort/filter by tag. I know one such plugin exists but it’s going through re-development. Plenty exist if I want to sort or filter images. Can’t seem to find one that filters/sorts posts.

Any ideas?
