• Hi,
Just gone back into resume building my course. The last section I built was a quiz plus answers. My answers are no longer there. So I retyped all possible answers as it is a multiple choice quiz and saved again but when I go back to check they have not been saved. I’ve deactivated and reactivated the plugin but still the answers are not saved…. ??

    Hi @knowthyselfadvisor,

Okay, I am testing it now…

Well, when I test I am not able to replicate the issue. Any particular steps to replicate the issue?

Also, when you have say Multichoice type question and add all answers, if you change question type then you need to re-add the answers. You may have experienced this or already aware of this but just wanted to mention anyway.

Just created another quiz for another lesson with no problem so might go back and delete my whole quiz for problem section but will wait on you first…

    (@knowthyselfadvisor)

Ah ok… Just saw your last reply… It seems to be for this one quiz only the problem persists… Im deleting and starting again

    (@knowthyselfadvisor)

Nope, now other quiz has answers missing and my new redone quiz has all answers missing. Some sort of a bug in this plugin? Its completely unuseable at the moment

Can you please list the theme you are using and also the list of your active plugins?

    (@knowthyselfadvisor)

Site origin theme plus siteorigin pg builder, siteorigin widgets bundle, site reviews, w3 total cache, wp easy paypal accept and yoast

    (@sanjiv-saha)

This might be due to plugin conflict.

So, starting with W3 Total Cache (also clear the cache first), try deactivating your active plugins one and one and see if this resolves the issue. Once we know the plugin it is conflicting with, we can check from there.

I know deactivating plugins in live site (if you are working on live site) can affect your users. So, I suggest you using this plugin Health Check plugin.
Once this plugin is active, please go to Tools -> Site Health -> Troubleshooting tab.
Please read the instructions carefully there, what this option does is it will deactivate all active plugins and switch the theme to default theme only for you.
So, you can switch back to your theme and then activate all plugins one by one (starting from Masteriyo) and test Masteriyo in each step. This way you will learn which plugin it is conflicting with if it is a plugin conflict issue.

Also, I wanted to get one more information from you. Are the options of questions not seen in the back-end only or is it happening in front-end (learning page) as well?

    Thanks.

ok so deactivated all plugins and then re-activated one plugin at a time and no apparent conflict. Then I went into a quiz and added a new question and answer. Saved and came out. Same thing happened again. Question there but no answers (I’m using the multiple choice toggle). This is happening front end and back end.

Just to make sure that we understand each other. You need to check if the issue was present or not after activating each of other plugin one by one.

Are you saying the issue was there when all other plugins were inactive and when just Masteriyo was in use?

    (@knowthyselfadvisor)

Yes, that’s what I was saying. However I’ve discovered the problem Sanjip….I think. You cannot copy and paste answers into the fields….even from a text document. It doesn’t like it ….sometimes its ok sometimes not presumably depending on how its formatted. I am leaving it for the moment and coming back tomorrow so I’ll let you know for definite by then….

@knowthyselfadvisor – I tested the issue of copy-paste with questions heavily formatted in MS Word and also with questions from a text file (UTF8). Both questions are saved.

Ok, so after several more hours and deactivating ALL plugins again the problem persists. Just to be clear I cannot consistently save answers on the multiple choice section of a quiz. I have both typed the answers in, copied and pasted from various doc, saved one answer at a time and all answers in one hit. I’m done. Unless you have any more ideas I’m deleting this plugin which is such a shame because I gave it 5 stars previously!

I can understand that how frustrating it is for you.
However, until and unless we can pinpoint the issue, it’s difficult for us to resolve. Sometimes, the issue might just be in your setup due to some unique reason/exception.

To further investigate on this matter, our team conducted a meeting today and have decided to look further into it.
Here’s what you and us can do further.

    • You mentioned that this is just happening in Multichoice question type. So, this is not happening for other question type. Right? If this is the case, we will narrow down our code inspection just related to Multichoice question.
    • Our developers also guess that this might be related to caching. So, if you have already checked with plugin caching from plugin that you use, please contact your host and check if there is any cache enable by host that you may want to check by disabling.
    • Previously, I asked the active plugins that you were using. We installed all those plugins on our test site but could not replicate the issue. However, we want to test this further if you could provide the site info provided by Health Check plugin. For this please install and activate this plugin, then go to Tools -> Site Health -> Info tab -> Copy site info to clipboard and provide to us. This will give us more detailed information about your site setup including theme, plugins, version numbers and your hosting environment. Maybe that way, we can have better chance to replicate the issue.
    • Also, is this happening in all browsers? Just to rule out that this is not browser related issue, please check in at least two different browsers.
    • Also, whenever issue occurs, please provide us the error message displaying in your browser’s console and network tab.
Please check this diagnosis tutorial. With respect to which browser you are using you will fine instruction specific to each browser on how you can check the console error.
Please provide with the screenshot of Console and Network tab, it will help us find the cause for the issue. In above tutorial link, it’s mostly for finding error in console tab but you should see Network tab as well beside the console tab in same horizontal tabs menu.
    • If you could also record a short video of the issue happening and share with us, then maybe it could give us some ideas.

We are sorry for the experience that you are having but we are trying our best to help and resolve the issue.

    Hi Sanjip,
I appreciate you are trying to help. However I am simply disinterested now. I have put your plugin on another website and disappointingly the same thing happens. It is an intermittent problem so you may be able to upload several answers for several questions before the problem becomes apparent. With all due respect this is your plugin. I have already spent several days on this when I should have been doing something else. If you find the issue let me know. Perhaps it may have been a better idea to log in to a clients own website and see the problem first hand for yourself. This may have been more beneficial for all concerned.

    Regards
    David
