I need to enter numbers in the field for Invoice Prefix. The PayPal Payments plugin does not allow numbers, only letters.

Both the PayPal Standard plugin and the PayPal Checkout Gateway accepted numbers in the invoice prefix, so it seems illogical that the PayPal Payments plugin would not allow numbers.

Can this plugin be update/fixed, to allow numbers in the invoice prefix?
or is there a work around to allow numbers in the invoice prefix that I can apply?

    Thanks,

    Hi @srushik,

The latest update 1.6.4 added checks to the invoice prefix field as invalid characters could have caused a problem previously.
This prefix is used for more than just the invoice with PayPal Payments. It is also part of the customer_id which is used for the Vaulting feature.
While numbers are theoretically not invalid characters, PayPal recommends not to use numbers in the prefix.

It would be possible to enter numbers by either modifying the plugin code a bit, going directly into the database, or alternatively using the previous version 1.6.3.
But for now, we implemented PayPal’s recommendation of discouraging numbers in the prefix.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas
