PictPress Weirdness
-
Pictpress has recently started behaving very oddly. For starters, it seems to ignore the pp_thumbs_per_row, max_thumbs and more_thumbs options. This happens constantly, even directly after an install. Other than that it works for the first few posts, but then the following problems crop up. It happens overnight, and all previous posts are affected. One day they look great, the next:
1. The thumbnail names, which I set to %title%, stop displaying the name of the photo, and instead display gibberish, like
“subtitle 2->”.
2. Strings of code show up at the end of my posts, before the thumbnails. They also appear before the picture when I blow up a picture. They look like this:
“pp-thumb-start->PictPress generated thumbnails for dir /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/trekball.com/httpdocs/traveblog/wp-content/ppress/02/siberia-is-not-wimpy-we-assume->”
3. Visitors to my site have reported a range of other effects. The most common complaints are as follows: Some say when they scroll down enough to see the thumbnails, the text dissapears. Some say my logo, usually firmly in the upper right of my page, appears in the middle of the page.
You can see the site here:
A post with the problem is here:

If I uninstall PictPress, remove all the old posts involved in it, delete the temp directory and the plugin, and then reinstall from scratch, it works for a few days. Then I get the same old problem.
I may not be able to try any suggestions right away; I am in Russia traveling along the Trans Siberian and finding what internet I can as I go. I have been amazed with the kindness and bredth of knowlege available in this forum. Any help you WordPress Gurus could give me with these problems would be greatly appreciated!
Kind Regards,
Trep
