    I’m using WP 5.8.3 and suddenly I can’t update user roles any longer. When I go to change the role for a user, I get the drop-down and select the new role. When I hit “save”, it switches back to the original role.

    Is there a known issue with this or is it likely a plugin issue. I use Paid Memberships Pro as my membership system along with Buddy Press, Modula, Elementor, Woo Commerce and Fluent CRM, Forms and SMTP. I’m not sure where to look.

    This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    If you can install plugins, install and activate “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/
    It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health.
    On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.

    You were correct about it being a plugin issue. I found it’s somehow caused by my Events Manager Pro plugin. If I deactivate it, I can then update users. I have notified Events Manager and I’m waiting for their response.
