• Greetings,

Installed Media Library Plus on staged WP site. When I moved a couple of images to my new media folder, those images show broken image links on the parent site. However, they still show when I go to edit the page on the parent site, and they still show when I Preview Page on the parent site. I have yet another WP install that I did for our Org’s Pres. so she could see the full site. This site was cloned from the parent site. The images on this site are fine, and have no errors.

To help clarify, here are my WordPress sites:
/parentinstall.com <– has broken image links
/stagingofparent.com <– where Media Library is installed and where images were moved.
/clonedfromparent.com <– has no image errors and was not affected

    Here’s how I tested:
I moved one image, on the staged WP install. Checked all three installs. Saw the broken image link on the parent install. I moved one more image, and then that also showed as a broken image link on the parent.

I’m guessing it has something to do with Media Library being installed on a staged WP install? But then, isn’t that the reason for staging an install? But surely this isn’t the problem because the image shows fine on the Page Edit screen. As you can see, I’m a wee bit confused! Would appreciate any insight.

Edited to add: 1.) I did try to Update the page, on the parent install with the broken image links, and it did not help. 2.) If I Copy the images back into the original WP Uploads location, the page on the parent site is back to normal with the images properly displayed.

    Many thanks,
    Kim

Media Library Folders can only update links in the current site’s database. That is where the content of posts and pages are stored. If the parent site is a different WordPress site or a different site is a multisite setup, Media Library Folders cannot access it.

Thanks, Alan. Yes, that’s what I was thinking and how I understand the working of WP. But, that’s not what I am seeing. I wonder what could be the cause. Once I’m done with the staging site, this will be a non-issue, but thought it might be worth looking into for others.

Thanks for a fantastic plugin, btw!!

    Best,
    Kim
