Image Upload Help!

    So I’m hosting my first wordpress blog on an old pc in the house. Everything seems to work fine, but when I try to upload an image nothing happens.

    Flash uploader won’t work, browser uploader won’t work. They both show the progress bar completing, but once thats done nothing happens.

    If I go to the uploads directory on the pc thats actually hosting the site, the images ARE there…but I still can’t see them on wordpress and add them to posts.

    If I navigate there through another pc on my network, I can see the image files are there, but I can’t view them. I can move them around and delete them etc. but not view.

    Any suggestions?

  • so the images have been uploaded, they are just not displaying right?

    are you sure you are clicking on the ‘insert into post’ button? at th bottom of the upload window?

    what happens when you click on the ‘preview’ on the add new post page?

    no ‘insert into post’ button appears. when i preview the post, its just blank.

    like, i choose the file to upload, click upload, then it just asks to choose a file to upload again.

    ive tried everything on that list with no success. I’m going to try an entirely new wordpress install and see what happens.

    new install wasn’t successful. also tried in every browser and still nothing ??

    Is the GD Library installed on your local server?

    yes, it was bundled with my PHP install

    Have you checked the uploads path in Settings/Miscellaneous?
    (And yes – I’m running out of ideas…)

    i have checked the uploads path ??

    ive even tried the suggestion of typing in the default path instead of leaving it blank

    its weird though that the files DO upload but wordpress can’t see them. Could it be a permission issue?

    I’d expect a placeholding image to be shown if it was a permissions problem. Are the files getting uploaded to the correct uploads folder? Are the three additional images being created when appropriate?

    the files are going where they need to, no additional images are being created though

    Assuming that some of these images are quite large, that suggests that it’s not a permissions issue but that something is failing during the upload/image creation process. Do you have any error logs on the server?

    honestly, I wouldn’t know where to look for them. Does wordpress keep some kind of log file i can look at?
