• So, I am relatively new to web development. I was under the impression I needed to add a line of code to get jQuery to work with WordPress. As such, I added one import line to the functions.php file and the website now crashed with the “There has been a critical error on this website.” message. In addition (and just my luck) the site has a security plugin that blocks access to the site files. I had to use a file manager plugin to access the files and cannot seem to do so with FTP. I don’t think this can be fixed, but there is a lot on the site and I really wanted to check before starting over… thanks for any help you can give me.

  • Hi there.

I am sorry to hear about your troubles. You do not have to start over because it is possible to fix the issue.

You should be able to access your files throuh your hosting control panel. If you are not sure of how you can do this reach out to your hosting provider for assistance.

It should also be possible to access your files with FTP. Again you can reach out to your provider to confirm if you have the right setup.

I hope you find a solution soon.
