How to merge PO / MO translation files

  • Hello everyone!

    I have a question about WordPress translation.
    Let’s say I have translated a plugin with POEdit and everything works fine. When the author releases a new version it has English phrases in it’s PO/MO file that were not included in the last version and I can’t even translate them in my original file. I upload my translation and some of the text is translated and the phrases that my file is missing are not.

    My question is:
    a) Can I merge PO/MO files to add the missing “variables” to my translation file and then translate them?
    b) Can I add anything to my PO/MO files? I can’t see this option in POEdit and I cannot add anything?

    I really want to avoid translating the file everytime from scratch – I just want to add the missing translation

    Please help ??
