• Hi,

I have added UA and G4 and for some reason G4 doesn’t work…

I am using litespeed cache, could it be the reason? I have disabled it and still same issue, so I don’t think so.

Here is a picture of our configuration:

Note that your plugin is uptodate.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Kind regards,

    Marco

    Hi!

How are you testing? Because I am seeing the request being sent succesfully: https://imgur.com/a/Sp6P5fg

    Hello,

I have made it work before you replied (5 days after, no worries though).

    – The issue I am still having is that GUA have far too many users… We should have 2 or 3 user a day as the website it is still not public…

Today, 94 users on GUA however on G4 the user counts seems to be fine, 3 users today…

    – Also, we have users coming from Organic Search which is impossible as our website isn’t indexed and on maintenance mode with admin tracking enabled (I am going now to make it accessible, so you can check and add an no index).

Can you please please verify what is going on here?

    Thanks in advance!

When we tried gtag.js (v4) then hits to regular GA were twice. It was sending pageviews via analytics and via gtag. Right now we tried to switch to analytics.js only. On our regular GA it looks fine. GA4 seems doubled, eh. I’ll wait for an hour if it gets down.

However, at the beginning, without switching to gtag, GA4 would have no pageviews. Now it seems to be working even with analytics.js. Weird…

Well, GA4 now shows almost nothing, it doesn’t work correctly…

    Hi @adskiller,

Sorry I never responded to your message. I never received a notification!

Now with keengamer’s response I read your message, but I think you removed CAOS from your site (understable) If your still looking to debug this issue. Let me know!

    @keengamer,

Without a URL to look at it’ll be difficult to do any debugging. If you don’t want to share it here, you can send it to me using this form.

We had to switch back to analytics.js. However, I suppose that this js is not working with GA4, am I right? There are no entries with this javascript.

Also, were you able to look at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/custom-definitions-ga4/

Also, one more feature which would be great and which we have another plugin for it because yours is missing it, is some report in the WP Dashboard. Something like this https://imgur.com/a/iFrkK8e

    Thanks, Karel.

    Hi Karel,

Unfortunately your feature request goes against CAOS’ design principles. It’s built to be light-weight and speed things up. So, no fancy bells and whistles (like reports) that’ll slow things down.

Besides, Google does a waaay better job than any GA plugin ever could. So, it feels like reinventing the wheel.

Analytics.js is GA’s old library, which indeed doesn’t (and never will, as it’s deprecated) support GA4.

I’ll get back to your other feature request when I can. The transition to GA4 is currently enough on my plate, though. ??

    Hi,

Just to let you know that I have replied to you via the form.

    Hello again,

we still use https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ga-in/ because it’s small, easy to use and can work with dimensions. However, if we use CAOS now and set dual tracking with gtag.js v4 then the new downloaded file is never running. It just don’t load. Only the basic UA tracking works.

We tried to switch to gtag in GAIN plugin. Using compatibility mode in CAOS. It just doesn’t work…V4 is missing in the console.

If we run UA code from GAIN and GA4 code via gtag.js in CAOS then it works, almost. GA4 has doubled pageviews and google assistant doesn’t even see it running which is weird.

Of course best would be to have dual tracking and not two javascripts…

    Karel

Circling back to this, I’m releasing an update next week which contains fixes for GA4 and Dual Tracking. Hopefully that’ll resolve the issues you’re facing.

Hello, any news when you will release it?

    Oops. Just did!

Ok, testing now… I have one more question regarding Minimal analytics. When we activate it then it’s great, no javascript is loaded. But if I understand it correctly then not even load speed, bounce rate and all the other stats from GA.

But… What if there would be an option to load Minimal Analytics and later the main javascript which would load the rest? We use WP Rocket so we can easily delay running the script. This way 1. it won’t slow down the site for the initial load 2. would load the rest after the user interaction or simply when the main javascript would be loaded.

Would this be possible? I believe that a lot of people would love it.

PS: Realtime stats in GA and GA4 differs a lot but I suppose it’s because 5 vs 30 minutes taken into account?

    Thank you.

    Best,
    Karel

    (@daanvandenbergh)

Minimal Analytics isn’t my library, and it’s a heavily modified/stripped version of Google Analytics’ own library. There’s no way they can run together, without registering double hits.

Yes, GA4 Realtime Stats isn’t really that realtime ??

I see. And do you know why setting adjusted bounce rate to for example 30 or 60 (simply not the default number) completely changes not just the bounce rate but also time on page? Like from 5 minutes to 10 minutes (doubled). That is very weird and I understand the change for the bounce rate, but time on page and session duration?

    Thanks,
    Karel
