    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with the VAT setting. Customers buying my products from outside the EU should not pay VAT because customs may ask them for it on delivery.
I have set up in WP/WooC/settings/VAT/zero rate, all the countries concerned (including Switzerland). However, a Swiss customer has been invoiced with VAT. That means WP does not recognise the country of the customer while ordering and does not apply the correct VAT rate.
Could you please tell me if I forgot to set something somewhere? I clarify that all prices are indicated VAT included because clients want to know the full price of the product when chosing it and not at the end while checking out.
Thank you very very much for your help, I am lost…
    Kind regards,
    Fanny

    Hi @npu2021,

Are you calculating taxes based on the customer’s shipping address?

This setting can be found under WooCommerce > Settings > Tax > Tax options.

If this doesn’t help, please share a screenshot of your “Standard” and “Zero” tax rates (Links next to Tax options) and your System Status. For screenshots we recommend https://snipboard.io.

You can find your System Status via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    Cheers.

    Hi Mirko,
I have to come back to you on that matter because finally it does not work. When I choose the customer shipping address for the calculation of the taxes, the prices are displayed without taxes (I did not see it before because I was logged with my account), whereas I chose to display them with tax included.
That means that when someone who is subject to taxe will see his/her cart price all of a sudden increased of 20% when entering his/her delivery address. This is a catastrophy.
Can you let me know what I have to do?
Many many thanks for your help and best regards,
    Fanny

    Hi @npu2021,

When an issue like this happens, if you are sure your tax settings are correct, it is usually caused by a theme or plugin conflict.

In that case, we suggest isolating the issue by deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and switching to a default theme like Storefront.

If you don’t see the same problem, that means your theme or another plugin is conflicting with WooCommerce.

Reactivate the theme first and check again. Then, go on and reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.

You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/.

    Hi Mirko,
    thanks for your quick reply.
However I am afraid I cannot do that. This is my business and people are visiting it all the time. Imagine if I deactivate the plugins, everything will be upside down…
I mean this is not normal that the taxes do not work or may be bothered by another plugin.
Do you have another solution please?
Many thanks for your help and best regards,
    Fanny
