date links to the post not date archive

It’s coded that way as shown here – https://github.com/tomusborne/wp-show-posts/blob/1ff2257b0e8f5b899dd5f682979733cc36bb48ea/inc/functions.php#L91-L98 – but you can filter it to change to your preferred behavior.

get_permalink() has to be changed to get_day_link(). But you’ll also have to make sure date archives are enabled on your site. (some sites have date archives disabled)

Does get_month_link() exist?

And yes, I have enabled date archives to this one specifically (Rankmath disables them by default!).

You can use get_day_link() to get months instead.
