• I am building a table that is going to contain a lot of information. More than would reasonably fit on even a wide screen monitor. So I’ve read on https://www.datatables.net/examples/plug-ins/range_filtering.html I can manipulate the table. Which at least gives my hope in finding a solution.

But for my case I wish to allow the visitors to the site to show or hide either an individual column or several column’s. All depending on what information the visitor deems relevant.

The way I would envision it is simply via a check box or a simple one click option at the top of the column. And obviously some sort of easily accessible way to show that column again if the visitor so chooses.

I don’t have any real experience with writing my own code. But I’m pretty sure if I was pointed in the right direction of where I should be looking/doing I could hack it together.

In a nutshell, I’m pretty sure I don’t want “range” or “type” filtering. I just need a method to allow a visitor to hide or display an entire column at will.

Might you have any plans for such a feature already? Or could you help point me at the right code I could play with to try and manipulate to my liking?

Other than that, this plugin is great. Very in depth, well documented and scalable. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

that sounds like a really cool future, unfortunately, I don’t really have an idea on how to implement it.
There might be something similar possible with an upcoming version of the DataTables library though, so maybe it can be incorporated into my plugin in the future.

(And yes, “range” or “type” filtering are not what you need here.)

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
