    Good Day!

Unfortunately, SGO does not yet convert and deliver images in the AVIF format (now supported by most browsers). Until it does, with have the following questions:

    (1) Is SGO compatible with Image CDNs such as ImageKit?

    (2) If our website is hosted by SiteGround, will our images be blocked or restricted when using an Image CDN?

    (3) When can we expect SGO to include the conversion and delivery of AVIF images? Are you guys currently testing this potential feature?

    (4) Any tips or suggestions when using an Image CDN?

    Thank you!

    Hello @generosus,

Let me address your questions one by one:

    (1) Is SGO compatible with Image CDNs such as ImageKit?

Yes, our SGO plugin should be compatible with Image CDNs.

    (2) If our website is hosted by SiteGround, will our images be blocked or restricted when using an Image CDN?

No, the images should not be blocked.

    (3) When can we expect SGO to include the conversion and delivery of AVIF images? Are you guys currently testing this potential feature?

We are constantly looking for new features for our plugins but I cannot provide you with any specific information at this point.

    (4) Any tips or suggestions when using an Image CDN?

I would recommend performing the image optimization using our plugin first and then activating the Image CDN.

We do not plan adding avif generation in the upcoming scheduled updates. You can use whatever software you want to generate them and they will play just fine with the CDN of your choice. We do not modify the HTML content to serve webp images and we handle this on server level so the plugin will not interfere with the way CDNs handle your content.
