Disable Browser Telephone Format Detection No Worky

  • This looks like an awesome plugin. Please let me know when it will be available for WP 5.9 and running Neve theme. I currently see no difference in telephone formats before and after installing the plugin and activating it. Lemme know!

    Hi Mike,

    This is Aj the plugin author. Hmm…The only thing this plugin does is add the following code to the site:

    <meta name="format-detection" content="telephone=no">

    Which is supposed to disable the function where phone numbers added on a page turn into links when viewed on a mobile device. It wouldn’t matter what theme you are using and this plugin basically would never require an update for WordPress as it works independently from WordPress besides using the wp_head hook to insert the code which will always be available in WP.

    It’s possible certain phones no longer respect this meta tag. Can you let me know what device you are testing on? And if you want to share a link to the page where you have a phone number I can take a look to see what your site looks like and if this plugin is what you are looking for. Thanks!
