When writing a new post, and adding an already uploaded image sometimes I have to use the search item in the Media Library.

For example: an image, called hch-2008.jpg is already (for months) available and uploaded in the Media Library.

When adding an image, I select “add image” and then the tab-menu Media LIbrary.
I enter “hch” (or ‘hch*’ ) as text to search for, but as result after the search there’s no match. Though I can browse with the FTP-program to the file called hch-2008.jpg.

Instead I get a recently post presented to me as result…

ANyone can confirm this ‘broken search issue’ in WP3.0?
In the latest 2.9.2 release it still was working without problem.

Update: I downloade WP3.0 again, unzipped it, and copied the wp-admin and wp-content, wp-includes and root of the zip again through FTP-upload (using the same wp-config.php ofcourse).

tested after these actions: still the search-option through the media-library does not work: any wildcard or input is displaying the last (recent) post and not the expected media like JPG files.

anyone encountered simular issue? or probably solution?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

@esmi: I deactivated and re-activated all plugins, and did a database-check, without any succes.

As theme, I use the twenty-ten theme from WordPress 3.0 release.

So far, the problem isn’t solved.
Otherwise, I opt for a complete db-backup and reinstall from scratch ??

@esmi: increasing memory didn’t do the job, problem was still there after increasing towards 64M.
Tried it several times without success.

    BUT…
i did a full backup with a plugin, and deactivated all plugins (besides the backup-plugin), made a backup, downloaded the backup,
and enabled plugins… and now it suddenly is fixed…

strange… but blame it on one of the many plugins ??

    ‘case closed’ ??
