Ever since the SCA rules kicked in monday, all AIB credit cards are failing on all my clients sites that use Stripe plugin:

Stripe SCA authentication failed. Reason: Your card does not support this type of purchase. Order status changed from Pending payment to Failed.

    Help!

  • I have the same problem.

Same here since 8th March. Stripe is investigating the issue without any luck since I’ve reported it to them that day.

Yeah, I talked to Stripe, too, but it’s not their fault. Waiting for a lot of lost orders… and no answers here, at AIB and Stripe. We don’t have to be three in this case, do we?
Edit: I just saw that the plugin was updated this morning, maybe this will solve the problem…

nope update is not helping. Did you check with other stripe plugins? It is ridiculous that the issue isn’t sorted for so many days.

My client just spoke to AIB & apparently it’s an issue at their end. No surprises there! Just have to wait I guess

Hi John. Do you mean the issue is on the AIB side or STRIPE?

    AIB sorry

Weird. I have an AIB card and tried to replicate the error. Of course, the card was declined. I’ve called them on Tuesday and they said that looks like my gateway isn’t SCA secured and that is why it was declined and I should contact Stripe to resolve it. BTW AIB payments worked around 3am 8th March. The difference between checks on Tuesday and today with declining cards on Stripe side is that before it was that bank declined and now is straight that Stripe blocked the transaction.

    Hi all,

It is indeed a difficult situation when the payments are failing suddenly. I found a few of these reports in our support channel. I investigated the logs and all of them are pointing towards Stripe that they have blocked those transactions/cards.

We still haven’t heard from any of the users yet if Stripe has changed anything that started this problem. Since @johnegg confirmed that AIB is the source of the problem, we might have to wait until they solve it on their end.

If you have any updates regarding the problem, feel free to share them with us here.

    Thank you ??

Stripe said the cards were blocked for various reasons, some marked as suspicious by Radar & others required an extra step (authentication).

Its very frustrating as not sure whos at fault here & not getting any answers! Its no coincidence that the SCA rules kicked in this week though.

@rur165 but the thing is that I’ve got a different answer from AIB -that this isn’t their problem just that Stripe doesn’t support SCA. I suppose the answer depends on who you are talking about it on AIB customers infoline.

@annathbc, I had the same answer from AIB. S if everyone thinks the problem didn’t come from them we’re not ready to go and help out…

Sorry I delete my previous message it wasn’t a good exemple

I had 2 AIB paiement ok since this afternoon… cross the fingers…

1 payment goes through, for another ‘Stripe blocked this payment’. So it looks like they are working on it but without full success.
