    Hello Guys,

i have now all ready from my testing page setting listings etc. are working well. I have downloaded all the CSV Fildes for category and places besides thet the settings file (json). I installed the Geodirectory plug in on my live site and wnat to import. NOT WORKING!

First i tried the settings json file, after i uploaded the file the system sold me that the file is invalid… Really? What can i try to make it valid?

Then i try to import the Category’s, which was commented by the system with “siccesful”, but the categorys are empty, so nothing there… NOT WORKING either.

After that i tried the places csv file, after the upload and the importprocess the system told me all entry existing already, really? No entrys in the directory… NOT WORKING either…

So what can i do to bring ma weeks of worl from the test invoronment into my live page??

    Greetings and thanks in advance!

    A short Update:

I was able to bring all Entrys into the Live Page, manually set up the settings, as no chance to use the Jason File. Then imported the CSV file for the category and the csv file for the entry, all ok with this import, but now ofter setting uo all and bring it live i have 2 other problems:

    1) NO feature image set
In the test envirinemt i have the first image as feature image, i see in the documentation that this is a normal process, the first image is alway the feture image. But not on my live site (all settings are similiar to the test environment) Here the same entry form test oage and live page as a picture of admin area: https://ibb.co/jJR9V0h The Image will be deleted automatically in 1 Week from today!

    2) The Map of the directory is showing that there are no entries, and i should change my settings… Do not know what that means, beacuse when i go a details page the Map is correct set up and shows the address of the entry correctly. Here you can see the “error”: CLICK

    Could you please help?

Just another UPDATE and the last for todey, need to sleep…

I was able to bring back the Map-View in the correct way, how did i do that? Manually deleting every single entry in the directory, delteing every image and then i did upload the CSV file again, that helps and brougt back the Map. At least this is sorted out.

But the Feature Image (which is important for sharing in social media) is still not set, it is still in the same way as it was in my previus posting, the the attached Picture there from IBB.

Maybe it is because of the formating in the CSV file? I use the # for each picture as i have them all already in the media libary since a couple of years… And i do not want to delet them and reupload them, so i git the info fro you guys how to format the CSV file, but i guessing that maybe for the feature image the # is not working? As your plug in uses the first image and save it into the media libary as well? Just an idea, waiting for a feedback now ??

Would be great if someone can tell me how can i fix this so that i get my feature images in the correct way. Thanks!

So if i understand that right i need to make a registration on your website to get the free Support which belongs to the free Plugin here in WordPress…?? EbEven on the Website is written that for Free support i need to klick to the WordPress-Forum…

That is a bit strange or not @1naveengiri ?

What do you nee to know? After i installed nd set up the Plugin i make 1 Entry as example, donloaded the CSV file to see how it should be filled up. I filled this up, with all details and the Images in the way as written by your supporters here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/change-add-pictures-images-from-media-library-not-possible/

I used the Hashtg (#) befor each https link. All works fine on my Test environement only on the live page i have no problems with the Images, as they did not pick the first image as Feartured Image…

Just give a hint, why this is not possible, maybe others will have same porblems and like to know a possible solutions in future…

    Hello @paoltaia thanks!

Well basically i have not a problem to register somewere, but if i don’t see a reason… Maybe you should always say that you like to do “Premium support for free” in case you tell the people to register ??

Anyhow we can go ahead here for the moment.

    1) Testarea and Live Page are similar Theme, PlugIns etc. the only difference is the “Database”, but only in the way that we have tons of more entrys on the ive page. (that causes the Problem for the Jason-File, there are details in it which try to use some Datafields which alredy filled out on the Livepage, so this Problem is “done”.

    2) Debbuging was not enabled during CSV Import as all was working well on the Testpage i was not thinking that i need to do such things.

    3) Yes, all Images are imported, and i did not have any featured image set. Only in one Hotel.

    4) Screenshot i have shared already: https://ibb.co/jJR9V0h

    5) JSAON file is deleted already as not needed anmore, all set up correctly by hand (see point 1). CSV i used the insructions here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/change-add-pictures-images-from-media-library-not-possible/ and used the HashTag. As all imported data are there, Names, Extras, etc. Images, i guess the CSV is right. But anway here is a screenshot if the Fields where i put the Pictures in: https://ibb.co/2ZKs0WZ Personally i guess something went wrong because of the Hashtag.

    6)
    I tested something:
I have created another CSV just with one entry and take away the Hashtag from the first image and let all the other images with Hashtag. Then uploaded it to creat a new entry (without ID in CSV written), The Featured image is set but al the other images are not loaded into the Hotel. Strage or not?

I did another Test: Just uploaded in one Entry 1 Image which i want to be the Feature Image, deleted then the douple picter (the old one which was from the CSV import) and tada the Feature image is set as well…

    Conclusion for the Moment:
I guess the CSV import with Hashtag on my livepage is not working correctly as a manual upload show directly effect to the feature image i thing the Plug in is working fine by showing featured images. So the most uncomplicated but longest solution would be to upload for every Hotel entry the Image manually whic i want to be the featured image. If you have other Ideas just let me know. Till the next Weekend i lik to fix this so that sharing is not a poroblem anymore ??

    Hi @leogc,

I tested it locally and it uploads featured images.
    https://ibb.co/mBd1szX.
the first image with ID is a featured image, the rest are normal images.

Please try this and let me know if you face any issues.

meanwhile, I will sync the development team to check, if we can improve it.

What should i try exactly? Import again after 2 times i don’t think this will work, besides that i can not set any ID to the image by hand as i don’t know which ID would be correct.

    (@leogc)

I have full access to the database if that maybe helps, maybe i can check something in the database as well?

    Hi @leogc,

If you don’t use the featured image anywhere in your theme then you can just # all images and not worry about it. For the social share image, I have added a fix to be able to use an external one, this will be in the next release.

If your theme does utilize the featured image then it might be best to unhash the first image so it’s copied as a new image.

Just linking to our docs on it for future reference: https://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/article/242-how-to-format-the-csv-file-for-importing-listing-images

If I can help further please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Hi @stiofansisland

well i use the featured image in the theme. But still wonderng why this works on the test page (all the same as written) and not on the live page…

Anyway, if i do a new CSV Upload without Hash what will happen do the “old pictures”?

    Plugin Author Stiofan

    (@stiofansisland)

I assume the test site you uploaded them manually?

Please read the docs I linked to in my last post. A hash will tell the system to just use the URL as an external source. In most cases you don’t want that. Adding the full URL without the hash will download the image to your site, if it already exists it will copy it.

Images will remain unless you delete the actual posts. If you delete the posts first then the old images will go also.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    (@leogc)

    Hi @stiofansisland,

that was the point, in the test page i did exactly the same thing, CSV upload from an old Plug in, changed the details a bit and downloaded the CSV for prepairing it for the Live Page in the way which is mentioned in the Doc of yours. And then all this “crazy stuff” started.

    And still don’t know why.

But the images are linked as Hash, so if i delete the Post, the images will not be deleted from the WP Media Libary only from the Database of Geodirectory, right?

I used the Hash because i have the images since 2019 in my Media Libara from the old Plug in and i do not want to delet them from the libary.

So i guess for the moment still the best solution would be just upload the First image manually again to place it a featured image, which works as mentioned in som previos post from me.

No, if the file is hashed then it will not be deleted physically, only from the DB entry.

OK thanks for the explanation. Here is what I would do in your situation:
(assuming you don’t have loads of blog/page images also)

    1. Backup the media folder.
    2. Copy all listing images from all year/month folders to the current year/month folder.
    3. Remove all url/folder info from the file section of the CSV, so “../uploads/2020/02/image-name.jpg” would just be “image-name.jpg”
    4. Import the listings and then delete all the medial folders apart from the current month/year. (again assuming you don’t have loads of blog/page attachments). If you do have just some, you can use the backup to replace them individually.
    5. (optional) if your last solution did not also create responsive size images then you can run our tool under GeoDirectory > Status > Tools > Regenerate Thumbnails.

That might not suit your situation but from what you have told me it might?

    Thanks,

Well, we are talking about thousands of Images… A download from them all and a re upload, then a re upload of CSV sound like to much work. I will try the next days what i mentioned earlier, just download the featured image and upload it manually to the enrty, so i have just some hundered pictures to work on.

I will let you know if that will work out finally.

    Plugin Author Stiofan

    (@stiofansisland)

The way i suggest will give you all responsive image sizes, the hash images only give you the one size. I’m just suggesting the best way but do what works for you ??

Let me know how you get on.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
