Guidance on setting up nav menus

Hi all. It seems the one thing that isn’t covered in the documentation or in any online tutorials I can find is a comprehensive guide on how to set up your nav menus after installing PMP that covers things like what pages don’t need to be included in your navigation, suggested structuring of your nav menus and how to hide or show menu items based on the users logged in status.

Some guidance please.
