    Hi all,

I have thousands of posts with own meta titles that need to be deleted. I want all these posts to take over the inserted variable meta title I created in the Yoast SEO plugin. But in order to make this happen I need to clear all the existing meta titles, or it will just take the one that is set for that post.

Does someone have a quick fix for this? It would be a huge help!

A WordPress developer on Reddit recommended to use SQL for this. But is this really necessary?

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

    Hello @keytop542,

Thanks for reaching out about your SEO titles.

Do you intend to use the same SEO title for all your posts? If yes, you can set the desired title in WordPress > SEO > Search Appearance > Content Types > Posts > SEO title. This will override existing titles and be the default for new posts.

    Does this meet your expectations?

    Hi @maybellyne

    Thank you for your response.

Yes I already changed the value in this area, but it does not override existing titles. It only appears as the new title if I delete the existing title of a page. That is why I am looking for an easy way to delete all existing titles of my posts. (or find a way to force the override).

    Any further ideas?

    thank you.

    Hi,

If you’ve already written a specific title in the SEO title field on a specific post or page, that will really take precedence over the default set in the Search Appearance section using snippet variables.

While it is technically possible to remove it in bulk from the database, there isn’t any easy way to do this from within the plugin settings, unless you take a look possibly at the bulk editor under the WP admin dashboard > SEO (sidebar) > Tools section.
