I have a proceed to checkout button which won’t update regarding the colour. When I first added the button, it was working fine. Now, that’s not the case.

Every button on the site is the same #7769a6 (purple) text, #FFFFFF background and #7769a6 (purple) boarder.

Upon hover, the background is #7769a6 (purple), the text is #FFFFFF and the border is #FFFFFF.

In elementor, the settings are all showing as correct and whenever I load in incognito or another user, the Proceed to Checkout button is showing as a rubbish blue (#5bc0de).

I have looked in as many places as I can think of to see if there is a colour blue that I can change to purple, but I can’t see it.

Would anyone know how I can fix this?

Of course, you’d need to add something to the cart in order to see this blue button appear.

Thank you so much in advance. This has been driving me nuts for way too long!

  • Hi @kateharris,

I saw that the styles are coming from Elementor. Refer to this screenshot, please.

Maybe try to temporarily switch the theme to the default Storefront theme and see how it works on this theme. If it works the same, that means this is not theme-related. If that is the case, I would suggest you get in touch with the Elementor support or ask for some help on the Elementor forum.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

    Hi @bsfherman

Thank you for coming back to me.

Yes, I am using Elementor. Not too sure how I’d feel about switching the theme temporarily. I can only imagine the terrors that await me after switching back.

I will definitely get in touch with Elementor and see if they can shed any light on the matter.

    I really appreciate your help.

Thank you again for your assist!

Sorry @kateharris, I should have mentioned that you might want to do the theme switch on a staging site environment instead of on your live production site.

Well, feel free to create a new thread if you have anything related to Astra we can help you with.

    Good luck,

    Hey @bsfherman

Someone mentioned to me that I should do this. I haven’t done anything like that before and a bit nervous that I break something when I switch the theme back again.

I guess there’s a video on YouTube that might help me so I might give it a go. Just scared that doing it could ruin everything.

The site is being backed up twice a day, but the last time I needed to use it, the backup wouldn’t import properly and I had to start from scratch. Not sure I fancy doing that again considering the work I’ve put into it since then.

I was sure that the fix for this would be a simple setting somewhere. Very bizarre.

Thank you for you help though. Being able to speak to others for advice and tips makes life so much more easier for me and I really appreciate you helping me out!

    Hi @kateharris,

Doing anything on a staging site will never impact your live site. And it is actually a good practice to do anything on a staging site instead of directly doing it on a live site. For example when updating a plugin or theme. Especially for something that is related to customization and custom code involved. So, when the thing we do is going wrong, it will break only the staging site.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

    Hey @bsfherman

You have just opened my eyes to a whole other world! I hadn’t heard of a staging site before. Just had a look into it and I will 100% take your advice. Thank you so so much! And I will be sure to use this for every website going forward. I can definitely see that this is an excellent practice to get into.

Now I know about this, I can use this on some other sites too without the worry of breaking them.

This little tip is going to help me immensely, so thank you again so much!!!

So happy can be a help, Kate!

    Kind regards,

    Hey @bsfherman

So I took your advice and set up local hosting for staging. I am using Local Hub to do this.

I wanted to try it on 2 of the sites that I have as I could actually use staging for these two sites. I installed BackWPup. I have one site (Astra) and was able to install that plugin and create the staging successfully. I have another site (Sydney) and couldn’t recreate it. That plugin’s folder name is already in the database. I have no idea how it got there!

So then I thought I’d use BlogVault to download a copy of the Sydney site to then upload it to LocalHub, but that came with an error and I was unable to import the site.

What do you recommend regarding this? I’m happy to host the sites locally, but not sure if BackWPup and LocalHub are the best combinations.

As I’ve only come across this the other day, I really don’t know too much, so any advice you have would be awesome!

    Hi @kateharris,

I am not sure. Probably you have installed BackWPup plugin before? I think that it should be no problem running BackWPup on Local Hub.

Speaking about recommendations, have you ever tried Duplicator or All-in-One WP Migration? I use them a lot and I personally find that both work great.

    I hope it helps.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

    Hey @bsfherman

Ok, so am I right in thinking then that BackWPup is good for local staging only and Duplicator & All-in-One WP Migration is better for online staging?

You really are amazing for helping me so much,

Thank you so so much again!!!

    Hey @bsfherman

So I set up local staging with the site using local hub. That all went swimmingly!

I did change the theme to Storefront as advised, and the button still looked the same as it did in Astra.

I am in a Facebook group for Elementor, as I understand that the elementor forum is about to be switched off, so I’ll see if anyone knows more about it there.

Thank you again for all your awesome help and support!!

    Kate

    Hi Kate,

I am pleased to know that you finally see some light on the button issue. Good luck with the FB group.

Feel free to create a new thread if you have anything else related to Astra we can help you with.
