With the disclaimer that you might need to slow walk the explanation for me, any ideas why in a native WordPress theme (in this case, Seedlet from Automattic), this fails to work if the menu I’m working with is the actual Social Links Navigation menu location?

It appears to work in the other locations (except for ignoring the icon settings, e.g. hiding the label doesn’t work), but the Social Navigation Menu location just ignores the plugin altogether.

    Thanks.

I’m sort of figuring this must be related to

If it’s using its own custom walker, make sure that the menu item titles are filterable (please consult your theme author about this).

and that Seedlet doesn’t create the social menu the same way it does the primary menu or whatever.

Is there any way to “make sure that the menu item titles are filterable” via some sort of custom function?

    Hi @bixfrankonis,

I tested the Menu Icons with Seedlet theme and it is working as expected. https://vertis.d.pr/QqaYCp
Could you show us or let us know how you created the social menu so we can try replicating this on our end.

I made it in the typical way, in the way customizer menu tab, and selected the Social Links Navigation location. It’s the only one of the three possible menu locations in the theme that it just wasn’t working in.

FWIW, that screenshot you show here is not using the Social Links Navigation location. It’s using the Primary Navigation location.

Yes, I initially tested it on Primary Menu. I tested this time with the Social Links navigation, and it is as you said. The Menu icons do not work in this particular location probably because this location automatically creates an icon itself once you have added your social account.

I suggest reaching out to their developers about this as it is more like a theme-related concern.
