• Hello all, I will apologise in advance if I have submitted this in the incorrect place forum wise…

I am attempting to create a directory style website and hopeful to utalise WordPress themes to do so, however, I am struggling to find some of the features I require and wonder if someone could point me in the right direction please? For ease I have grouped the features I require into required and nice to haves below… (the short of it is, I can’t find a listing/directory theme that allows users to post a listing and *most importantly* be able to upload/attach a pdf file to that listing).

I have found some themes/plugins that do some of the requirements (‘ListingPro theme’ for example) but not all and I’m not sure if multiple themes/plugins can be integrated together or if alternative options that fit my requirements exists?

    Required Features

User Account (sign-in, forgotten password etc)
User able to add Listing which is populated on website for all users.
Advance Custom Form Fields for Listings – (Struggling to find one that allows a user to upload a PDF with their listing)
Location API – (enabling users to find local listings)
Filtering listings – by distance or sub category (for example)
Admin Dashboard – for myself to manage user submissions etc
    User inbox

    Nice to haves:

Checkout system – to allow users to pay for access to certain areas.
Pricing Plans – to be able to monetize in the future
    User Ratings & Reviews system
Multiple User types e.i customer user login and seller user login.

Many Thanks in advance to anyone that can shed insight.

You can only have one theme (plus a child theme in some cases) active at a time, but any number of plugins. Ideally themes should only mange a site’s appearance, they should not add functionality, that’s the realm of plugins. Using a theme that adds functionality locks you into that theme since using another causes you to lose important functionality. Plugins generally work with any theme, so you can easily change a site’s appearance without losing any functionality.

I recommend piecing together the functionality you need from various available plugins. Your chances of finding an all encompassing plugin that does it all is pretty small. There will likely be gaps in addressing your needs that existing plugins cannot not fulfill. Those gaps could be addressed through custom coding.
