When a member goes to the login page and enters username and password and clocks Login the little clock rolls and keeps rolling – it just hangs there.
This is a new installation and clearly, I have misconfigured or not-configured something, but I can’t figure out what.
I would appreciate a bit of help.

The member signup (“Join”) works fine (for free membership, paid not yet tested).

    Hello,

I have tried to check the issue at provided URL by creating one user and when I tried to login then it return administrator needed to activate the account before login. So, you may have set the manual approval option from ARMember -> General Settings page therefore I am unable to check the login.
Kindly activate the user and after that, I can check and assist you further.

Also, the error message is showing fine for the administrator but it may cause an issue when members login successfully and that usually caused issues due to conflict with the other plugins or theme. So, kindly check by temporarily deactivating other plugins and changing the theme so you may find an issue.

    Thanks,

    Hello reputeinfosystems,

Thank you so much for assisting with this. Before you checked the site I had continued to analyze the problem. I found that there is a conflict with WordFence. With WordFence deactivated the login works normally and there are no other problems.

When you attempted to signup, WordFence was deactivated and it worked as expected. Unfortunately you mistyped your email address (as arnenber.com) – I received the appropriate info email. Yes, I also have it set for manual approval.

For several years this site has been the target of hackers and spammers with often several fake sig-ups per day. The hackers have been kept at bay with WordFence (which is now deactivated).

I have not found what setting in WordFence is causing the problem, if indeed it is a setting. I will gladly work with you in resolving the issue, just let me know how I should proceed in my end.

I really appreciate you looking into this. Surely this is bound to cause problems for others, and if we can fix it, it will be a win-win for all. Thank you much.

    Did anyone resolve this issue?

I am having the same problem with Wordfence.

Wordfence is very good and has kept at leat 100 Russian Bots from cracking the site.
I would rather dump ARMember than get rid of Wordfence but would love a fix.

I whitelisted my site in the blocking and that helped alot but opened up the admin menu to the user. The appropriate box is checked in General Settings to hide the Admin Menu.

Would like to make it smoother to login so instead of Activating through email I gave it immediate activation. Not the most secure but it does seem to be working. Just need to get rid of the admin menu.

    Hello mfisherusa,
Thanks for your comment. Sorry to hear that I was not the only one with the issue.
There has been no response from reputeinfosystems or anyone else. I don’t think the issues have been resolved. I also feel strongly that WordFence is essential. I have grown less enthusiastic about ARMember, would like to know of alternative that works properly.

I have wordfence and armember. No issues.
    Have u checked wordfence log?

    Thank you, robodrago,

I had not paid any attention to my site for a while and just reactivated WordFence. Then had a member log in. There was no problem logging in. It may indicate that the issue has been fixed.

I had not checked the WordFence log. When I deactivated it I scrubbed all logs. So I may have lost valuable information.
