Author in Schema markup when author is disabled for a post type
-
Dear SmartCrawl support,
first of all thank you for your awesome plugin which I use on a regular basis. Recently, I stumled upon the following issues with the Schema markup. Both are due to the fact that authoring information is always included in the markup. However, I think that authoring information should be left out if:
– the author function is disabled for a certain post type since there is now control over which author gets included in the markup.
– the user chooses not to display author URIs in the admin UI because there is no real benefit of that information and chances are high users do not want authoring information at all when the URLs are disabled.
I understand that the author fields are marked as required by Google. However, in the above scenarios I guess it’s better to not pass any information at all rather than potentially wrong information.
I am looking forward to receiving your feedback. ??
