    Hi !

I’m using the Events Calendar on the website I’m building. It will have a fairly busy calendar and my client would like that, when a user has suscribed to the calendar with his phone and someone adds an event on the website calendar, the event automatically adds itself to the user phone calendar.

Is it possible to do with the plugin, and if so, how ?

    Thank you !

    Hi @weblux,

    Thanks for reaching out!

If by phone calendar you mean Google calendar then, yes, what you need is possible with Subscribe to calendar functionality. Here’s where you can learn more about it,

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/exporting-events/#how
    https://theeventscalendar.com/blog/news/how-to-let-users-subscribe-to-your-wordpress-calendar/

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Masood

    Hi !

This is what we’ve done, but if someone were to subscribe to the calendar on may 2nd, and then we added an event on may 3rd for may 4th, the calendar of the person subscribed doesn’t synchronize again, meaning they won’t know there is an event on may 4th unless they visit the website again, and synchronize with the calendar a new time. Is there a workaround ? A way for the calendar to check automatically if it’s up to date, in other words.

    Regards,

    Web-lux

    Hello,

Thank you for the additional information. This is always very helpful.

After setting this up, does the Google Calendar ever update again or do your customers always have to go back and manually update the calendar?

    Thank you,
    Chad

    Hello again,

Just did a test again, the calendar does not update with the event posted 24h prior. So we always have to go back and manually update the calendar (and using the actualisation function of Google Calendar is not enough, we have to go through the button on the website’s event calendar)

    Thank for your help

    Hello there,

Thank you so much for the additional information and for the testing.

I am going to reach out to my colleagues about this to get some ideas as to why this is not functioning for you. I will be back in touch soon.

    Thank you so much,
    Chad

    Hello again,

Just a quick question, when you (and your customers) subscribe to the calendar, are you they subscribing via Google Calendar or one of the other two options, “iCalendar” or “Export .ics file”?

I ask because if they subscribe via Google Calendar, it should update every 24 hours. If they subscribe with iCalendar, the update frequency will depend upon the iCalendar settings. If the Export .ics file option is used to download the calendar, the calendar will never update automatically. The only way to update the calendar would be by downloading the newly updated .ics file again.

    Thank you so much,
    Chad
