410 when pinging Bing and Yahoo

  • Hello Rolf,
    For the past week I’ve been seeing “Ping Bing & Yahoo failed with response code: 410”

    Has something changed at Bing and Yahoo?

  • Hi John,

    Yes Bing stopped accepting traditional pings and switched to IndexNow only (which is something completely different).

    To get rid of the warning, you’ll need to switch off the Bing & Yahoo option at Ping Services on Settings > Writing.

    Hi Kurt, your visitor drop should not be related to the sitemap pings. It is probably related to an algorithm change that impacts your site content. You can do a search for “search algorithm update april” to find out more…
