• Suddenly today users get the message “This field is required and cannot be empty” about the first required field though the field is not empty. I tried to make the first required field not-required, but then the message is about the next required field.
It apparantly means that users cannot use the form. If I make all required fields not-required, the form is empty and sends nothing.

Two days ago I updated WordPress to 5.9.3. Is that the problem?

  • I am having the same issue. It appeared after the update to Visual Form Builder 3.0.9, which is also triggering other technical errors, so I don’t believe that it’s related to WordPress 5.9.3.

@alxjensen, are you having any problems with accessing the Widgets on your site from the administrative dashboard?

(I was able to temporarily resolve the problem by reverting to Visual Form Builder 3.0.8 — although that version has other problems — so this appears to be definitely related to the version 3.0.9 update.)

I’m not having problems accessing the Widgets from the administrative dashboard

Same issue after update to 3.0.9, resulting in correctly completed and submitted forms reporting empty required field errors (address in this case, which was not empty). Rollback to 3.0.8 fixed this specific problem, for now.

@str8shoot3r & @ate-up-with-motor, how are you rolling back? I don’t want to lose my form settings (for four forms) so how can this be done without losing current settings? Any help is greatly appreciated!

This worked perfectly for me; no loss of settings:

Thanks @str8shoot3r! That did the trick!

Hi, have you tested the latest version 3.1?

    Regards.

I just installed 3.1, tested it, and got the same user error as above: Trying to submit a test form returns an error “This field is required and cannot be empty” even though all required fields were definitely completed. The form was not submitted.

The first time I tried, I also got the following WordPress error:

    Error Details
    =============
An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 152 of the file /home/dh_mykb4t/ateupwithmotor.com/contentfiles/plugins/visual-form-builder/visual-form-builder.php. Error message: require_once(): Failed opening required '/home/dh_mykb4t/ateupwithmotor.com/contentfiles/plugins/visual-form-builder/inc/class-list-table.php' (include_path='.:')

I tried a second time and got the same user error noted above, but so far have not gotten a WordPress error notification.

Thank you for reporting this information. This will help the developer investigate further your findings.

    Kind regards.

I have the same problem here:
    https://pastorale-ausbildung.de/#kontakt

Messages would not be sent anymore, so I updated VFB to 3.1 and now I receive this error message.

    WP is at 5.5.9

    Any solutions available yet? ??

@gesangphoto, you should try to update your WordPress version if possible.

    Regards.

Two months ago I had the same issue. I followed the advice above to roll back. This has worked but two months on I still can’t upgrade to the latest version without the error reoccurring. For testing I tried to create a new form, I can’t even do that any more. I just get an error “The link you followed has expired.” I am interested if any of you with this error have tried to make a new form?

I rolled back and I’m waiting for a solution, but it’s been almost two months now. Following this thread has been useful but if the developer isn’t going to address the issue then I’m going to have to migrate to another plugin.

“This field is required and cannot be empty” error appeared when updating to the new version 3.0.9

    We use Theme Avada
    Wordpress version 5.9.3
